Seminar in Klaipeda - Sharing good practice in career guidance
On June 5th-9th, 2019 a meeting of all partners and invited experts, career advisors took place within the project Follow Your Way in Klaipeda, Lithuania in cooperation with partner organization KPP Tarnyba.
In the introductory part of the meeting the results of the questionnaire survey related to needs and reserves of career advisors and their clients from all participating countries were presented. The majority of consultants stated that the problem is mainly motivation: how to motivate clients to use the career guidance service and see it as meaningful. Based on these results, the structure of an international training course for counsellors was designed to cover these needs and reserves.
Over the next working days, all partner countries presented the methodologies and tools that are currently used for career guidance and which are also transferable to other countries. The Lithuanian side presented a wide range of short interactive techniques and group games. The Czech side presented the used international diagnostic tools (questionnaires, screenings) as well as international tools aimed at determining the values that influence the choice of career path. The Italian side has prepared techniques and games that work with pictorial and symbolic material (working with cards and pictures) and techniques in pairs focused on role playing. The English side has prepared a presentation on Every Parent and Child's good practice and a presentation on a career guidance system at British schools.
Finally, the participants visited the Pedagogical and Psychological Service in Klaipeda, where a closer meeting of the partners and evaluation of the course of the project took place.
